Arbikeep

Terms of Service

Last updated: September 23, 2026

1. What Arbikeep is

Arbikeep is a personal-finance ledger application. You enter or import your financial transactions, categorize and track them, and optionally link bank accounts through Plaid to sync transactions automatically. Arbikeep is a tool for organizing information you already have access to elsewhere (your bank, your statements). It is not a bank, is not a money-transmitter, does not move money on your behalf, and does not provide financial, tax, or legal advice.

2. Your account

  • Creating an account requires a valid email address and a password, or signing in with a Google account. I email a 6-digit code to confirm a new email address before the account is usable.
  • You're responsible for keeping access to that email address secure. Anyone who can receive mail at your account's address can sign in as you.
  • One account is intended for one person. Arbikeep currently enforces a single active session per account at a time.

3. Your data belongs to you

Everything you enter into Arbikeep, including accounts, transactions, categories, budgets, goals, and rules, is yours. See my Data Ownership Pledge for specifics on export formats and backups. Nothing in these Terms changes that: I don't sell your data, and I don't use it for anything beyond providing the service back to you.

4. Linking bank accounts (Plaid)

If you choose to link a bank or credit card account, Arbikeep uses Plaid Inc. to establish that connection. Plaid's own privacy policy and terms govern how Plaid itself handles your banking credentials and data during that process. Arbikeep never receives or stores your bank login credentials. Arbikeep stores a Plaid-issued access token, used only to request your transaction data on your behalf, and syncs your linked accounts' transactions and a masked account identifier (e.g., the last few digits), never your full account or routing number. You can unlink an account at any time; doing so revokes Arbikeep's access through Plaid, but does not delete transactions already imported into your ledger. You have full access to add, edit, or remove any transactions or accounts at all times.

5. Payment and subscriptions

Some features (currently: bank-linking via Plaid) require a paid subscription, billed and processed entirely through Stripe. When you subscribe, you're taken to Stripe's own secure checkout page. Arbikeep's servers never receive or store your card number or other payment credentials. You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time through the billing portal linked in the app, also hosted by Stripe.

Founding-member pricing is limited to the first 100 people to subscribe. If you're one of them, that rate is honored for as long as your subscription stays active and will not increase. Once those 100 spots are taken, new subscriptions are at the standard rate. Standard pricing may change for new subscribers in the future; founding-member pricing will not.

Refunds: subscriptions are billed annually in advance. I don't offer automatic pro-rated refunds for early cancellation. Canceling stops future renewals but doesn't refund the current billing period. If something went genuinely wrong (a billing error, an accidental duplicate charge, or similar), email me at arbikeepsupport@gmail.com and I'll sort it out case by case.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use Arbikeep for any unlawful purpose;
  • Attempt to access another user's account or data;
  • Attempt to disrupt, overload, or reverse-engineer the service; or
  • Use automated means to scrape or extract data from the service beyond your own account's normal use.

7. Service availability

Arbikeep is provided on an "as available" basis. While I take reasonable steps to back up your data (see the Data Ownership Pledge) and keep the service running, I don't guarantee uninterrupted access, and I'm not liable for losses arising from downtime, bugs, or data loss beyond what's covered by my backup practices. You're encouraged to periodically export your own data (fully supported) as an additional safeguard.

8. Termination

You can permanently delete your own account and all associated data at any time, from within the app (Preferences → Delete account). No need to contact me. This immediately and permanently erases your account; there is no recovery period, so export anything you want to keep first. I may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or applicable law.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, I am not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, including but not limited to financial decisions made using information in the app. Arbikeep is a record-keeping and organizing tool, not a source of financial advice.

10. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute arising out of these Terms or your use of Arbikeep will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Texas, and both you and I consent to the jurisdiction of those courts.

11. Changes to these Terms

I may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated by email or an in-app notice before they take effect.
